About She Kneads

Giada Labrecque, She Kneads remedial therapist

Hello there!

My name is Giada, which is pronounced like "Claddagh" but with a "Jah".

What can I tell you? I am the owner and operator of She Kneads, which I established the year I moved to Galway, which was 2018.

Galway was pure magic back then, and I was pretty quickly committed to giving back to it what it was giving to me: comfort, belonging, community, opportunity, and healing.

It's been an interesting road since then. I became an author, a podcaster, and a public speaker. I have also picked up a few extra modalities along the way.

If there's one thing you should know, it's that I absolutely love what I do!

Massage

I graduated from Sutherland-Chan

School of Massage Therapy in 2015.

Since then, I have treated hundreds, if not thousands of people. If there's one thing I know, it's massage therapy.

My modalities include General Swedish, Deep Tissue, Pregnancy Massage, Lymphatic Drainage, Sports Massage, Myofascial Release, and Reflexology.

Energy Work

Reiki was the first holistic therapy I learned. I was 21, just out of University and it seemed more like a party trick to me than a real thing at the time.

I am now certified two-times over, first in Hamilton, Canada, and now in Galway Ireland.

I am also qualified in Access Bars Therapy and a specialised branch of Kinesiology called Muscle Tuning.

Corporate

In 2018 I also established a massage based corporate company called Office Kneads.

Office Kneads offers onsite massage therapy to facilitate corporate wellness events.

In 2020 I wrote a book called "Self-Care Solutions at Work" which can be found on Amazon. It's content is also available as an ebook, online course, webinar or seminar.

Remedial Therapy

Three days before my 23rd birthday, June 25 2014, I was hit by a bus while riding my bicycle on Eglinton Avenue in the city of Toronto. I sustained a slew of injuries all down my left side, multiple of which caused structural damage and therefore stayed with me for years.

As you can imagine, I was in a world of pain, but I also had zero desire to take potentially dangerous pain medications. So instead, I dove head-first down the rabbit hole of alternative therapy and natural medicine.

Since then, I have found countless natural and therapeutic  solutions to an entire spectrum of problems. These are what I now practice and share with my clients on a daily basis. When I give remedial advice, 95% of the time, it is coming from a place of experience out of necessity. The remaining 5% coming from research, as well as experiences and wisdom from fellow therapists and successful clients.

I think this is ultimately why I am good at my job, because in terms of aches, pains and problems: I've been there, I've done it, and I've got the t-shirt.... twice.

In 2023 I won "Remedial Therapist of the Year for Ireland", and to this day is it both my biggest accomplishment and greatest compliment.

How I Chose Ireland

When I left Toronto, I had every intention of moving to a warm and sunny country somewhere in Europe. I am an Italian citizen, and while I had nothing holding me down, I thought I'd take a chance and see what fate had in store.

I flew by the seat of my pants, only going where the wind took me for a couple of months, until I landed in Berlin. That's where I met the Galway Street Club, a big band from Galway Ireland.

We got on immediately, like long lost family. I travelled around with them for a month, and in that time I fell in love with one of them, Spud Kennedy, and moved to Ireland to be with him.

I remember the first day so vividly, being charmed at the idea of playing groupie for a day... little did I know. Click the button to see that day for yourself.

Life Before Ireland

Before moving to Europe, I lived in the city of Toronto.

Toronto is a great place, where you can find pretty well anything you are looking to do.

At that time, I spent most of my days on a bicycle, working as a bike messenger for various companies around town. I delivered everything from legal documents to high-end law firms,  food to Yuppies, and pharmaceuticals to people who were too old, sick and/or frail to leave their homes.

Once I found my love for massage, I attended Canada's no.1 school for massage therapy, Sutherland-Chan. After graduating, I started my first clinic for bike messengers. It was the Massage Garage, and I was the Body Mechanic.
